New Year, New You!
It is 2012- your year for uncovering a fabulous, new you! Make this the year that you finally go for that cosmetic surgery procedure you've been thinking about. As 2011 comes to a close and the economy continues to recover (very slowly) people everywhere are ready for a fresh start- and a fresh look to go with it. If a youthful new look is on your list of New Year's resolutions, Conkright Aesthetics has a few tips for you to help you prepare for and maintain your beautiful results.
Everyone knows the most common New Year's Resolutions are to lose weight, get more exercise and stop smoking. Each one of these is a huge recommendation for patients preparing to undergo any kind of cosmetic surgery.
Losing weight typically improves a person's overall health, but great weight loss can leave skin loose and unable to snap back. If your slim-down plans are significant, lose that weight before you schedule your cosmetic surgery for the best and most permanent results.
Smoking can dehydrate your skin, leaving it looking dull. It also is associated with lung and heart conditions that increase a patient's risk of pre-operative and post-operative complications including anesthesia-related problems. For ultimate results, nix the habit before you undergo your procedure and you'll not only be happier with your outcome, but you'll be safer throughout the procedure and healthier afterward. Plus, you will heal faster and you will be less prone to scarring.
Plenty of exercise; a nutrient rich diet low in fat, salt and sugar; and lots of water will help keep your skin hydrated and healthy. With this smooth and well-hydrated skin your plastic surgeon will have and easier time with your procedure and your results invariably will be better and you will heal faster if you go in with healthy skin.
So here are just a few tips that can tremendously help with reaching your New Year's Resolution of revealing a NEW YOU! Call Conkright Aesthetics today at 812.842.0240 to set up your complementary consultation for the New Year!
Pretty is the New Prozac
When you scowl, frown, or grimace, a message is sent to your brain that you're anxious, says Robert Levenson, Ph.D., professor at the University of California in Berkeley. Because Botox temporarily inhibits full movement of certain facial muscles, it blocks some of that feedback, so "your worry might not feel so worrisome," Levenson says. And that's what studies show: Women who got Botox in their forehead felt significantly less depressed and anxious up to three months later than those who had other cosmetic treatments (peels, fillers, etc.), research in the Journal of Cosmetic Dermatology finds. "Mirror neurons in our brains fire in sync with whatever we observe, including ourselves," says Evan Ritvo, M.D., coauthor of The Beauty Prescription. So, if you see yourself smiling and looking gorgeous, it may trigger the neurons that tap into the emotions represented, instantly helping you feel happier and more confident. Now, that's a beautiful thing! Call Conkright Aesthetics at 812.842.0240 today to schedule an appointment for Botox so you can feel and look your best this Holiday Season!!

Twas the Month Before Christmas
Some women wish their breasts were smaller while others wish they were bigger. I am 25 years old and I am fairly new to the team here at Conkright Aesthetics. I have always wantedto have larger and more symmetrical breasts, but never gave much real thought to actually making it happen. I started working at Conkright Aesthetics about 3 months ago and I realized right away that this was something that I wanted to do for myself. I have always been unhappy with my breast size and after seeing patients come in with similar issues as me and go through with surgery and have fantastic results, I decided it was time to make it happen!
My surgery was in the beginning of November and I had a quick recovery! Everything went very smoothly. I only had a little nausea due to the anesthesia the night of my surgery, but the next day I was up and moving around. I had a little soreness, but nothing major. For those of you who are considering having a Breast Augmentation done, I say, "go for it, make yourself happy." Dr. Conkright and his staff are excellent! They answered all my questions and made me feel so comfortable. The decision to have any cosmetic procedure is a personal one, and I did it for myself, despite what others said. I wanted to make myself happy. You're always going to have different opinions from people, but in the end you have to do what is right for you. I love my results and wouldn't change a thing!
